25 Years of Calon Wen – Celebrating the Future of Welsh Organic Dairy

This year marked 25 years since Calon Wen began its journey, a cooperative of Welsh family farms committed to producing high-quality Welsh organic dairy. What started as a small group of like-minded farmers has grown into a proud network of farms across Wales, producing high-quality organic dairy while staying true to its roots in ethical, sustainable farming.

To mark this milestone, we held a special 25-year anniversary celebration, bringing together our local suppliers, customers, and long-standing partners who have supported us throughout our journey. With live music and locally supplied organic food, it was a great opportunity to share stories, express our gratitude, and celebrate how far Calon Wen has come.

A Quarter Century of Commitment to Organic Milk in Wales

Over the last 25 years, we’ve faced many changes in farming and our food systems, but Calon Wen has remained committed to the principles of organic farming in Wales. Our farmers focus on grass-fed cows grazing on clover-rich pastures, free from artificial sprays, fertilisers, or chemicals. This ensures organic milk of exceptional quality while supporting animal welfare and healthy soils. We pay our farmers for quality as well as quantity, so family farms thrive while maintaining the highest standards of Welsh organic dairy production.

Looking Ahead: The Next 25 Years of Welsh Organic Dairy

Looking forward, Calon Wen will continue to uphold the principles of organic dairy and strive for a more sustainable future. Each farm in our cooperative works to restore soil health, capture carbon, and protect wildlife. We are also taking steps to measure and reduce our environmental footprint through Planet Score, improved sustainable packaging, and resource-efficient production. Our goal is simple: to ensure organic milk in Wales remains a trusted choice for consumers while keeping family farms vibrant and rural communities thriving.

Rooted in the Past, Focused on the Future

Our journey has been guided by collaboration, integrity, and respect for nature. These values will continue to shape our work as we produce Welsh organic dairy that’s good for people, animals, and the planet. Here’s to the next 25 years of farming with Calon Wen.
