Milk

Calon Wen organic milk undergoes minimum processing to retain the goodness and flavour. It is simply pure, unadulterated milk, which is pasteurised, packaged and sold.

Calon Wen Organic Milk is non-homogenised and available in 1 pint, 1 litre and 2 litre bottles of skimmed, semi-skimmed and wholemilk. It is also available in our 1 litre Eco Paks.

The majority of milk sold in the UK is homogenised. There are no health benefits to homogenisation. It is a commercial process which extends shelf life, provides uniform colour and avoids the ‘top of the milk’ creamy layer. To homogenise milk the cream in the milk is removed from the milk and broken down by squirting it through tiny nozzles. The cream is then reintroduced to the milk and it then forms an emulsion in the milk rather than rising to the top.

We believe that this process is purely cosmetic and as we want to supply simple, pure, unadulterated milk we do not put our milk through this process.

Butter

Calon Wen butter is made from creamy Welsh organic milk which is churned resulting in a great organic butter that is slightly salted.  Geat for cooking, even better spread over chunky bread!
