’Best Veggie Cheese’ Award

We are celebrating after receiving another award for our cheese.

Our Extra Mature Cheddar has won ‘Best Veggie Cheese’ at ‘Cook Vegetarian’ Magazine’s first awards. Judges described our cheese as “...sufficiently aged to have the faintest crunch of calcium lactate crystals, it avoids the excessive sharpness of some extra mature options, leaving a strong, immensely flavoursome cheese”.

Our Extra mature cheddar, which was only launched in July 2009, already holds two Great Taste Award Gold stars.

“We are really chuffed that in its first year the Extra Mature has won these awards which recognise its great taste,” said Richard Tomlinson, one of our farmer members.

All our products are now approved by the vegetarian society. “We decided to market this additional benefit as vegetarians are increasingly looking for organic products,” said Richard. “By being approved by the society and carrying its logo, it is easy for people to see immediately that we have vegetarian status.

“Winning this award from Cook Vegetarian will help ensure that more and more vegetarians get to taste our cheese, as well as those who of you who just love great-tasting Welsh cheese!”
